Xiaoxue Jiang is a Ph.D. student at the School of Optoelectronic Engineering, Xidian University, China. Her research interests include optical computing, diffractive optical neural networks, and metasurface-based optical information processing, with a focus on applications in edge intelligent sensing and low-power information processing. Her work explores highly parallel and low-latency computing methods based on optical field manipulation. She has published three SCI-indexed journal papers as the first author and serves as a reviewer for the international optics journal Applied Optics.
In October 2026, she joined the Fields & Waves Lab at the University of Sannio, Italy, as a funded visiting Ph.D. student. Her current research focuses on wave-based computing, with particular interests in electromagnetic wave propagation and manipulation, metasurface-based computing, and physical information processing. She explores efficient approaches to information processing and computation by harnessing wave propagation. In addition, her research addresses the discrepancies between numerical simulations and experimental results in optical computing systems. She investigates the effects of device imperfections and optical misalignment on computational performance and explores physics-based error modeling, end-to-end optimization, and hardware-in-the-loop training to improve the accuracy, robustness, and practical deployment of optical computing systems.
