Jiawei Chen is a Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering at Southwest Jiaotong University, China.
His research focuses on thermal metamaterials, topology optimization, and reconfigurable metamaterials for advanced thermal management and electromagnetic applications. He has authored or co-authored over 10 international publications, including first-authored papers in journals such as International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer and Journal of Electronic Packaging. He has also actively participated in several key research projects funded by national and industrial sponsors, contributing to the development of novel heat exchange modules and electromagnetic field sensing technologies.
In March 2026, he joined the Fields & Waves Lab as a visiting Ph.D. student supported by the China Scholarship Council. He is currently working on applications of metasurfaces and metamaterials in advanced thermal management and electromagnetic energy harvesting.
